Alexis Brett is no stranger to motherhood. But after having so many boys, she is eager to raise a girl at last.
Alexis grew up as an only child. At that time, she wasn’t sure whether she wanted a large family to grow up in or not. She simply decided to see how things would go.
At the age of 22, Alexis was married to David Brett and pregnant with their first child. However, at this time, she had not yet decided to have more children.
Six months later, she gave birth to Campbell, her first son.
Just a few months later, Alexis discovered she was pregnant again. Then, in another few months, she gave birth to a second son, Harrison.
Over the next 16 years, she would give birth to Corey, Lachlan, Brodie, Brahn, Hunter, Mack, Blake, and Rothagaidh. All of these children, 10 in total, were boys.
On Christmas Eve 2018, Alexis thought she might be pregnant with another child. So, she took a pregnancy test, which came back positive.
After having 10 children, Alexis thought she would have 11 months of peace.
But a couple of months later, both she and her husband were surprised when the doctor told them they were finally expecting a girl.
Of course, there was a 50% chance that the baby would be a girl. But the parents had become so accustomed to the idea of having boys that they couldn’t quite come to terms with having a girl for a while.
But eventually, Alexis and David were excited to have a daughter for the first time. Of course, they were experts in parenting by now. But raising a daughter would be different.
They began their eleventh journey into parenthood by buying feminine clothes for the first time. It must have been strange for Alexis and David to be shopping for these after buying for boys for so long.
In late August 2019, Alexis went into labor. Very well, Cameron, named after actress Cameron Diaz, became the 11th sibling to the Brett family’s first daughter.
When Alexis and Cameron retired home with the family, the parents noticed a change in the household. It was a change for the better.
I believe there is an error in the sentence as it says “Ahora que Alexis tiene 11 años” which translates to “Now that Alexis is 11 years old” which doesn’t make sense in the context. Assuming you meant “Ahora que Alexis ha tenido 11 hijos” which translates to “Now that Alexis has had 11 children”, I would translate the whole paragraph as:
“In general, they have behaved much better with her,” said David Brett. Now that Alexis has had 11 children, she has said that she will have more. However, she has also stated that after her tenth child was born, she was done.
But this time, she is more insistent that her pregnancy days are behind her. This may make it seem like she was seeking a daughter all these years, but the mother denies it. She claims that if she had another boy, she would still have decided to stop having more children.
Right now, the Brett household is incredibly cramped.
David and Alexis’ house is big, with five bedrooms. But obviously, such a large building has difficulties accommodating 13 people.
Fortunately, the older children are entering adulthood. In the coming years, they will move to college or their own homes, which should free up some space.
