Awakening from the Storm: Cardinals Suddenly Become MLB’s “Underground Monster”!.Y1

July 5, 2025 by mrs a

ST. LOUIS – Just two months ago, the St. Louis Cardinals were considered “dead” in the playoff race. A team with a lackluster 14–19 record and endless questions: Was this season worth fighting for? They were slipping away – until May 4.

The St. Louis Cardinals finally win a game this series against the San Diego Padres - Viva El Birdos

And then, a seemingly ordinary day against the New York Mets turned into a milestone.

The Cardinals won both games of the double-header. And from there… they were dragons.

From disappointment to glory: 33 wins in less than two months!

After that mental boost, the Cardinals were no longer the same team as in April – they won 33 games, lost just 19, and jumped to the top of the MLB record group for the same period, tied with the Houston Astros.

It was no longer “luck” – it was the declaration of a team rising from the ashes, quietly but deadly.

What’s really going on at Busch Stadium?

Sonny Gray – from expectation to reality, the veteran pitcher returns to All-Star form, delivering games as smooth as a stone wall.

Lars Nootbaar – the man who is likened to a spark in the dark, with an explosive series on both offense and defense.

A rare balance – the Cardinals don’t have a single explosive superstar, but a group of 25 people saying in unison: “We’re not done yet.”

Why isn’t anyone talking about them?
Because they don’t shock the Yankees. They don’t have a million-dollar contract like the Dodgers. They just quietly… win.

“The Cardinals are the undercurrent that every major team is ignoring – and may be paying the price.” – commented a reporter at MLB Network.

Playoffs calling? Why not!
If they maintain their current form, the Cardinals won’t just be in contention for a Wild Card spot—they could topple the Milwaukee Brewers for the top spot in the NL Central.

And once they’re in the playoffs, no team wants to face a team that’s both resurgent, hungry, and has nothing to lose.

Remember May 4. The day the Cardinals stopped bowing—and started stepping up as a serious challenger.
